Freelance Bat
Surveyors
We are looking for experienced
freelance bat surveyors in
all regions of England and
Wales to assist us during
the fast approaching bat survey
season.
Surveyors must be capable
of:
- Identification of bat species
using a frequency division
detector and recording device
- Analysis of recorded
bat calls using bat sound
- Providing their own
bat detection equipment and
recording device
- Carrying
out emergence and dawn re-entry
surveys of buildings/trees
in accordance with survey
guidelines published by The
Bat Conservation Trust (2007)
- Carrying out activity
surveys in accordance with
survey guidelines published
by The Bat Conservation Trust
(2007)
- Recording survey results
to standard templates supplied
by Keystone Environmental
- Working to the highest
standards of attention to
detail and quality
- Following instructions
issued by Keystone Project

- Being reliable and
punctual in respect of attending
sites on specific survey dates
and times

Senior
Ecologist Position
We are
seeking a personable, charismatic
individual with an eye for
quality and attention to detail
who will strive to maintain
our excellent reputation and
demonstrate commitment to
the company's vision and objectives.
Working
independently throughout a
range of sectors you will
be responsible for the successful
delivery of many complex,
multi-issue ecology-driven
projects. You will have an
excellent broad knowledge
of ecology, legislation, policy,
survey methods, impacts and
mitigation applicable to all
protected species and flora
but will have a particular
specialism for reptiles and
amphibians. Your knowledge
base will be supported by
a wide professional network.
Core
requirements
- Minimum
of 5 years' consultancy
experience, preferably at
an independent ecological
consultancy, of which 3
years' minimum should have
been as a Senior Ecologist
- A proven
aptitude for understanding
clients' requirements and
delivering these on time
and on/under budget without
compromising industry standards
- An
excellent working knowledge
of the planning system particularly
in negotiating effectively
with regulators such as
Natural England, council
ecologists and non-statutory
organisations
- A specialist
in the design and implementation
of practical, innovative
and achievable mitigation
strategies for protected
species, specifically reptiles
and Great Crested Newts.
Importantly, you will be
capable of applying for
and securing EPS licenses
for complex, large scale,
multi-phase developments
with numerous protected
species issues
- Exceptional
technical report, fee proposal
and tender writing capabilities
- Excel
at identifying and managing
risks and opportunities,
avoiding/minimising the
former and capitalising
on the latter
- Experienced
at leading, mentoring and
organising internal employees
and sub-contractors
- Knowledge
of the EIA process with
particular experience of
developments likely to affect
statutory sites and be able
to independently write the
ecology chapter of an ES
- Balance
and manage priorities, and
maintain good working relationships
with clients and colleagues
whilst working under pressure
