For
this high profile 48ha
mixed-use brownfield
development in the Thames
Gateway, Keystone were
commissioned to resolve
all ecological issues
commencing with Phase
II surveys and ending
with species monitoring
up to 4yrs post development.
The development
programme covers 11 yrs and key issues
on site are Great Crested Newts, reptiles
and bats.
To date we have:
- Carried out
extensive bat, GCN and reptile surveys
- Obtained
5 EPS licenses for
GCN's and bats
- Designed and
created a receptor site for GCN's
including 3 new ponds, a
reedbed, hibernacula and terrestrial
habitat
- Designed and
overseen construction of an artificial
bat roost
- Installed
over 4km of newt proof fencing
- Undertaken
pit trapping and translocation of
GCN's
- Designed and
restored an 11ha off-site receptor
site for reptiles with the cooperation
and involvement of Ashford Borough
Council and the site community group
- Translocated
a large population of common reptiles
- Provided technical
ecological input to the site Design
Codes and planning applications
- Supplied staff
for ecological clerk of works
