New Natural Resources Body for Wales

On 1st April 2013 Natural Resources Wales will take over the functions currently carried out by the Countryside Council for Wales (CCW) and Forestry Commission Wales (FCW), the devolved functions of Environment Agency Wales (EAW) and some functions that are currently carried out within the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG).

All protected species licences currently issued by WAG and CCW under various legislation including the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and Conservation of Habitats and Species (Amendment) Regulations 2012 will be issued by Natural Resources Wales. This does not apply to badger licences issued under Section 10(2) and (3) of the Protection of Badgers Act 1992, which will continue to be issued by WAG.

The creation of the one new body should streamline services and make the regulatory process more straightforward for both us and our clients.
