Exclusion Fencing
We install temporary, semi- permanent and permanent
newt proof exclusion/drift fencing to the approved
specification promoted by English Nature in their
Great Crested Newt mitigation guidelines (2001). For
non-standard scenarios we improve on this design to
accommodate our clients' needs. Being GCN licence
holders we understand the implications of newt proof
fencing that does not meet English Nature's criteria.
Our fencing is always installed to exacting standards
and we have a reputation for meeting deadlines without
compromising on quality.
Depending on the type of fencing required we will
implement the necessary maintenance programme.
For access requirements we install a variety of newt
proof vehicular and pedestrian access gates and grids
including specifications that will comfortably accommodate
quarry traffic.

Newt Capture, Destructive
Searches and Clerk of Works
Where newt translocation is required
we install drift fencing, pit traps and
carpet refugia in compliance with European
Protected Species (EPS) licence specifications.
Post translocation our contractors can organise and
implement light and heavy destructive searches including
the provision of the necessary plant. Alternatively
we can supply licensed Great Crested Newt handlers
to supervise site contractors.
For large, complex and lengthy projects we provide
licensed Clerks of Work.
Habitat Creation/Restoration
We have expertise in the creation and restoration
of ponds and reedbeds whether they have been designed
as a receptor site or with other objectives in mind.
Additionally, we can create a variety of hibernacula
to suit specific ground conditions.
Not least we are able to organise and supervise landscape
planting to form optimal Great Crested Newt terrestrial
habitat.
Habitat Management
To meet EPS licence conditions or conservation
objectives we are able to organise and
implement a wide range of management prescriptions.
