At the practice one of
our strengths is our ability to develop and implement
monitoring projects across a range of scales, from
large habitat networks down to population monitoring
of specific species. Since the recent introduction
of changes to the interpretation of European legislation,
monitoring of the effects of development and to provide
feedback on the success of mitigation schemes has
become more important, in many circumstances being
required to fulfil license conditions.
The aims that drive the
monitoring projects the practice has implemented are
varied e.g.
- To fulfil the monitoring requirements
of European Protected Species licenses
- To provide feedback on the success of mitigation
schemes such as translocations, use of wildlife
tunnels to facilitate safe animal movement across
roads etc.
- To generate population statistics for ongoing
research projects
- To target areas of biodiversity loss and gain
- To provide information for the design and review
of management prescriptions
